Natural History Museum - Vienna
Museum installations
For several years, Lumine Projections has been implementing projection concepts since 2015 for the interior and exterior of the NHM. From conception to implementation, Lumine Projections is responsible for staging projections at special exhibitions and large-scale façade projections.
ARCTIC - The Changing Polar World
At the special exhibition "ARCTIC - The Changing Polar World", Lumine presents a projection and sound installation in Cabinet 3 of the Natural History Museum Vienna. As if looking through a giant telescope, visitors observe polar bears threatened by climate change and gigantic, calving glaciers. The polar bears stretch their heads into the museum and look under the melting ice floes from an unusual perspective in search of food.

It's not just the Ravages of Time
Lumine contributed the video installation ‘Silverfish’ to the special exhibition ‘It's not just the ravages of time – museum beetles, moths, mold and climate change’ in Hall 21 of the NHM Vienna. The silverfish disappear just as quickly as they appeared as soon as they are disturbed by light.

Cockaigne. Future Land of Milk and Honey?
In the special exhibition “Cockaigne. Future Land of Milk and Honey?” by photo artist Gregor Saller, Lumine Projections lets soldier flies (Hermetia illucens) buzz around. The exhibition can be seen in Hall 21 of the NHM until July 19, 2026.

Façade projections for Wien Leuchet
As part of ‘Wien Leuchtet’ (Vienna Lights Up), the Natural History Museum on Maria-Theresien-Platz was illuminated with changing panoramic projections. The artistic image collages, created especially for this purpose, were projected alternatively onto the 170-metre-long façade. The motifs were based on exhibits from the museum.
