Festival of Lights

Berlin (GER)

As part of the Festival Of Lights in Berlin, E.ON presented the “Special TV Tower Award”. The theme of “Creating a Better Tomorrow” was to feature Germany’s tallest building, the TV tower on Berlin’s Alexanderplatz, was to be illuminated with a 3D video mapping show. Out of 18 participating European videomapping-artists, the video made it into the finals and could thus be shown to an amazed audience.

Various motifs were projected onto the 98-metre-high west façade of Berlin Cathedral. The artistic subjects were adapted to Germany's largest Protestant church using six large-screen projectors. The 2016 projection commemorated the burning of the cathedral at the end of the Second World War, which was caused by an air raid. Potsdamer Platz was illuminated with motifs of a torn city map.
