re:flexion
20 Years MuseumsQuartier Vienna
To mark the 20th anniversary of the MuseumsQuartier, the light installation “re:flexion” by Lumine Projections transformed the MQ Main Courtyard after sunset. The walls of the Leopold Museum, the Halle E+G, the mumok, and the main MQ façade morphed into new objects through projections, reflecting the site’s surroundings. Light reflections and light pulses came together with rhythmic sounds to create a unique atmosphere. The 360° show immerses visitors in a world of light and sound. The reciprocal interplay of the light and laser pulses created new networks between the buildings. Recurring and even opposing reactions between light and sound are combined during the show. The result is a symphony created from the interplay between light and sound.
The project "re:flexion" was awarded the following prizes:
- Grand Prix du Jury at the Video-Mapping Festival 2022 in Lille - France
- 2 x Bronze Awards from the Creativ Club Austria (CCA) in the categories Animation and Other Platforms
- 2 x Bronze Awards from the Art Directors Club Europe (ADC*E) in Barcelona - Spain in the categories Animation and Outdoor.
The projection was realised in artistic collaboration with Patrick Kong, Dirk Pfeifer and Haselbusch. 15 projectors with a total output of 300,000 ANSI Lumen and four 20W lasers were used for the entire installation.
